Matheson Article

The big issue in this article is the question: Are cowboys the ideal role models that westerns make them out to be? A true cowboy doesn't have a family, his only "kin" would be the the rugged terrain to which he calls home. When they are around people they can be rather standoffish and aloof, two qualities that I'm not sure I'm fond of. It seems that on the surface these cowboys are cool and the aspiration of many a young boy, but deep down they have many traits that no one would want to call their own.
