Gunfight at OK Corrral
I believe that Holliday in this film attempts to be an Alpha Male Cowboy but ironically it is that fact that he is trying to be like the AMC that he is not. The fact is that the Alpha Male Cowboy is alpha because that is his personality and he is doing what he thinks is normal, however Holliday has to act in a way that is different than his normal routine of gambling. I believe it is actually an underlying sense of honor that drives Holliday in this movie to help Earp even though he has his own more illicit reasons. So as a whole I would say that yes Holliday's actions present him as a second Alpha Male Cowboy in this film however his motives make it clear that he is not.

In the Gunfight at OK Corral there seems to be little differentiation between the sidekick and the alpha male cowboy. Throughout the film there is the constant question of which of the two is truly the alpha male cowboy and who it is who has to take the backseat as the sidekick. The two main characters are the lawman Wyatt Earp and the outlaw Doc Holliday. In my opinion it is actually a clear cut decision as to who is the alpha male cowboy because of the motivations behind their actions. Earp is doing his duty as a man of the law, while also doing what he thinks is right. Holliday however is driven more by the debt he owes to Earp for saving his life, and it also seems as if he wants to redeem himself of his prior actions because he is terminally ill. Some may say that Holliday is still doing what he thinks is right but in my opinion the alpha male cowboy has to be doing his actions in a much more selfless manner than Holliday is. In the end it is Earp who acts as the alpha male cowboy because the motivations behind his actions are more selfless than Holliday’s.
